Industry — Makran Division
Makran’s economy is anchored in marine fishing, date cultivation and, since the 2000s, Gwadar Port and CPEC-linked infrastructure — though large-scale manufacturing remains limited across all three districts. See also the districts overview.

- Gwadar Free Zone (Phase 1): 25-acre park, ~$250m COPHC investment; logistics, edible oil, piping, halal food; projected full build-out ~47,000 jobs.
- EPZA (planning): 1,000 acres; tentative FDI $600m; ~20,000 jobs; ~$500m annual exports target.
- Mini Industrial Estate, Buleda (Kech): 50 acres, 105 plots — advertised for allotment; zero functional units, electricity still pending.
People directly employed in fisheries along the Makran coast, with 15+ seafood processing plants and two fish harbours (Gwadar & Pasni).
Economic impact & growth opportunities
- Government and CPEC planning continue to position Gwadar as a regional trade hub.
- Realising that potential for Makran’s own population depends on translating port throughput into local jobs.
- Functioning fish-harbour infrastructure at Pasni remains a critical gap.
- Reliable water and power supply in Gwadar city itself is a precondition for industrial take-off.
